The Benefits of Technology-Enabled Care Services
Sep 15, 2020
The last decade has seen an exponential rise in the use of technology in the home, with smart speakers, heating and lighting systems now commonplace. But until recently this increased adoption has not been mirrored in health and care provision. COVID-19 has led to an acceleration in the use of technology in the NHS and social care, and the UK now has a critical opportunity to reshape services for the future.
Tunstall, working with Public Policy Projects, has developed a unique report which explores how technology enabled care services (TECS) can be used for the benefit of patients, service users, carers and the health and care sector. It outlines many of the barriers to uptake of TECS in the UK and makes recommendations on actions that could be taken to increase its deployment. It also provides valuable examples of where technology has improved outcomes in health and care, as well as addressing the pivotal role of technology in a post-COVID-19 world to create a true ‘healthcare’ system.
